smaller fields, and my insane reasoning:
An example of why I like the smaller fields, and my insane reasoning:
I played a 45 player $5.50 SnG, and after a few hrs finished 6th for $13.50. But I place in the money less often in fields over 27. When I stick to 18, and a very few 27 player games I am placing at record numbers for me.
The only adjustments I have made to my game are fundamental.
I identified my greatest weakness as impatience that progresses at an alarming rate after playing for over 2, to 2 ½ hours.
I also added aggression.
I also now play any SnG with the chat function turned off.
I accepted that I could not improve my ability to effectively apply what I gathered from books and play for hours and hours.
Bankroll management is now a consideration. (it did not exist before)
This is how my approach changed:
How can my list of weaknesses be offset by advantages?
Patience was easy, limit the field. I like the way I play early.
Adding aggression was pretty easy, but it prompted me to watch my stats, and I found myself more aware of where I "actually" was statistically.
I can see what I was reading about, happening in hands and the math started to make a little more sense.
I didn’t get pissed about reading insults to both myself and or other players. That alone freed a great deal of attention, that turned into focus. Focus on everything mentioned above.
Call it a lucky streak, call it what you will, but if this information helps one player re evaluate their play from a different perspective, it was worth the time to write it.
I am, and always remain open minded to suggestion. If the players out there ,who have been there and done this stage, please offer me some insight on how to continue improving from where I am now. And I remind you I tilted this “and my insane reasoning” LOL
Best of Luck out there Felt Fanatics,
