Tournament play question:

When in a large MTT game of low buy in level. ($5.50) I find myself playing my table. And what I have begun to notice is that sometimes it leaves me in the position of playing catch up when I am moved.

Now the problem as I see it is that this happens when seated at a tight table.
I watch my stats, and it becomes clear that I need to chip up to accomplish my long-term goal, but that requires more risk and looser play then I am comfortable with.

So how does one approach this issue in a game?

If i understand the question correctly my advice is to take advantage of your position,it is the only time to try and pick up blinds ect...though this isnt the only factor..you must consider the amount your picking up in relation to the amount at risk..i.e. if blinds are 50-100 and you have 3 callers in front and you raise to 600 you have risked 600 to pick up 300...50% on your dollar .I often use position as a factor in my decision...coupled with my knowledge of players at the table
