Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Well it's about time the redwings did something. I was suprised to see them play so terrible the last 2. Most the series have been good hockey, Carolina looks to be taking charge of the bruins. How bout that Eric Staal? Now try and tell Thunder Bay don't put out some great hockey player lol...(for those who don't know T-Bay is my home town) Ok on to other hockey news, does anyone think Ovechkin's life is really endanger? lol He has a police escort following him around because a 17 year old but a threat online.

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Hmmmm you detriot fans to snobish to post here? I didn't get to see the game live but I have a PVR and watched in on my comp/TV. It was a close series, ducks almost upset the wings leading after 3 games then it was back and forth till the end. I am not suprised Boston is out but they did play a hell of a series. And now for the greatest match up since 1974 (my birth year btw) Staal vs Staal. How fitting as these 2 brothers are from my home town Thunder Bay. Read the artical STAAL BROTHERS GO HEAD-TO-HEAD and don't forget to check out the NHL CONFERENCE FINALS match ups where you can get all the game times and vote for your team Now lets hear some feed back from those snoby Detroit fans

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Snobbish?no you did not...No actually i,m a bigger fan than you may think,of the wings, and hockey in general.Ive spent the last few days pouring over material,in an effort to better bet this current set of matches....and yes my canadian friend i know how you dearly love the sport, but i was born in hockey town...i was on the streets celebrating those fanastic days when we ruled supreme...i will be there again...i think these next games are well matched....if anything i think its going to be close both matches, but if you like to talk particulars we can....back to this snobbish thing...i dont recall me making an americans or want to be americans post....sometime i,ll tell you bout the time time i cooked for gordie...and the tip....its an awesome story, cooking for a hockey legend, and how the cook was rewarded...

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Well mad my friend i fully expected a retort by now but since you have remained silent heres my best sunday pick.
Though i am a die hard wings fan,and think that they will come through,i dont think it will be in the 1st game here in detroit. The wings are pretty beat up and the hawks are young and refreshed...this is about betting not about who you want to win..at +170..i take the hawks...on this game.

Well I'm glad I got your attention Ok seriously I never said you weren't a fan of hockey but I will say this "Hockey is Canada's Game" we just let Americans play for money, think about it. How many Canadian players are rich because of the American market I've played a few hockey tournament in Michigan, Silver Bay and Detroit are the 2 that were awesome. I remember have a snowball fight in Silver bay with a rival team and a kid across the street from the other team threw a snowball right into a police cruiser. The whole team got in deep chit lol Meanwhile our team took off never to get caught
Mad Clint: Age 8 .... Current River Rockets
As for Chicago winning first game I would have put my money on Detroit, Chicago is to green and came out hesitant. I doubt they will win game 2 either, but look for them to win with home ice

Madonno? are you talking about Modano ? Modano was pondering about retirement but said he was coming back for his 20th season. He also plays for the Dallas Stars, he is still under contract for 2.5mil next season. After next year he'll be a free agent but I think he might retire at age 39. Modano is the highest scoring U.S. born player in NHL history with 543 GOALS and 786 ASSISTS for 1,329 POINTS. Only 4 other players have logged more games then Modano. Chris Chelios (1,644), Brendan Shanahan (1,524), Mark Recchi (1,490), and Rod Brind'Amour (1,404).

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Anybody care to tell me what happened to the RedWings last night? I bet Havlat has one hell of a headache in the morning lol. I kinda figure Chicago was ging to take the game to Detroit. I have to say one thing, Wings keep hitting the way they do, the league will start handing out suspenions. Sure it was a good hit and all but shoulder to the head is going to be considered a bad hit in the future. And clobbering unsuspected players will be frowned upon, the more people getting hurt the more likely it will be an illegal hit. Now what is the rule for interferrance? Is it legal to hit if the player has the puck? Yes! Ok what if the player doesn't touch the puck? No! What if the puck goes through the legs of a player, does this player become a target now? You tell me!

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Now don't get me wrong, I like the physical aspect of hockey. My point is this, and I'm not just talking about the Redwings, when players start getting hurt from ferocious hits to the head the league will do something about it. Havlat didn't touch the puck and in my opinion that is an interference. (Maybe Kronwall should have glanced down and see if Havlat had the puck instead of just aiming for his head). Anyway thats enough of this, check it out for yourself, man what a hit.

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Thats a brutal hit,and i,m not for anyone getting hurt, but its a very close call as to right or wrong,i mean the puck is right there,i truely want to see noone hurt, but its a tough call...but wow that was a brutal check

The Pitsburg Penguins look to sweep the Carolina Hurricanes in 4 games. "The Crosby And Malkin Show" (best dam show there is) have a combined 26 GOALS and 28 ASSITS making the dual a force to be reckoned with.

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Looks like crunch time for the Blackhawks, you'd think they would have takin advantage of some key players missing like Lindstrom and Datsyuk. Well I have to say it's looking more like a repeat final of last year. Can anyone tell me if there was ever a repeat final? And no there isn't any prize for this quiz, just want to see some smokin heads lol

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
ok now i,m thinking i prolly shouldnt count my chickens before they are hatched....but then again i never started this thread....but i like my canadian friend and in my spare time i tried to think of someway to give him something to be proud of...then i went shoot something all canadians could be proud of....i came up with this small lil change,i think you,ll like it...Mad Clint wrote:It is play off time and looking at the stats looks like my team stands a good chance at making a run for the cup. Yes I'm talking HOCKEY, I'm a die hard hockey fan. When the season is truely over I will have more time for poker lol. I am Calgary fan not just cause I lived there, hey the logo is a friggin big flamin C lol Not cause my birthday is 666 or that my dad was born on the 6 and my son to, of course I was born june 6 hehehe A big ass C with flames is the C for me hahahahaha. Ok I got a grip, well sorta. Lets see who is truely a Canadian and see what team they are going for. Canadian wanna be's are welcome to lol. It will be nice to see the FLAMES holding up the holy grail this year. As for Detroit sorry but they are done, no goalie=no cup. Boston, Chicago are a couple that will be a threat in the playoffs.

Re: For the Canadians or wanna be Canadians
Now I know the Pen's will not upset me on my Birthday tomorrow
Looks to me the Red Wings seem alittle fustrated
Now that don't happen often to the team stacked with players willing to take pay cuts in hopes to win a cup (Marian Hossa). Having skilled players is a good thing, but never underestimate the heart of a champion. The Penguin's look hungrier, more energized, more determined. The first 2 games look like typical Red Wings hockey, but now the butterflies are all gone, I await to see them lose on home ice.
In the mean time I hope you enjoy the preview of what is to come of game 5 and 6
